Jungle Wi-Fi – The Exotic Sounds of Electronic Cottage

An international compilation featuring recordings by 24 members of the Electronic Cottage community.

In 2023, we begin the New Year with multimedia projects strictly done by Electronic Cottage members. These projects are made to encourage participation and collaboration and help bring EC members closer together by creating something new!

For this compilation project the theme is Exotica. When it was popular, Exotica music was considered a hip variation of easy listening that usually incorporated sound effects. Think nature sounds like croaking frogs, wind blowing, birds chirping, or even water sounds. The genre was made popular during the late 1950’s and early 60’s by artists such as Les Baxter, Martin Denny and Arthur Lyman. Search their music out if you feel adventurous. It has inspired a lot of people including the members of Throbbing Gristle!

Jeff (Central) Chenault aka/ Central Inhabitants has been involved in the Columbus electronic music scene since 1983.
